Network Configuration Help
Overview
The Network Configuration screen lets you set the basic networking parameters for the Polycom® Distributed Media Application™ (DMA™) 7000 system. The node configuration and split network settings determine which sections below are enabled. You must complete all required fields (marked with a *) before moving to the next screen or saving configuration settings.
System Names
Specify the physical hostname alias(es) for the node(s) and the virtual hostname(s) for the system. Hostnames must begin with an alphanumeric character and can be several hundred characters in length. They may not contain any symbols other than a dash, and must not contain domain identifiers.
Invalid hostnames:
Valid hostnames:
All hostname entries must be unique.
IP Addresses
Specify all IP addresses as dotted quads (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx), where each quad is a number between 0 and 255. All IP address entries must be unique.
Node and Virtual IP Addresses
Specify the physical and virtual IP addresses for the management network. All these addresses must be in the same network (as specified by your Subnet Mask entry) and must be unique. If implementing split networks, do the same for the signaling network.
Subnet Mask
For each network interface (management and, if enabled, signaling), specify the subnetwork to which the IP address entries belong by entering the appropriate network mask (such as 255.255.255.0 for a Class C network).
IP Gateway
For each network interface, specify the IP gateway that the system will use to route network traffic outside its defined subnetwork. This IP address must be in the same network (as specified by your Subnet Mask entry) as the corresponding node and virtual IP addresses.
Link Settings
For each network interface, either turn on Auto-negotiation or set Speed and Duplex.
DNS Search Domains
Enter a list of domain names, separated by commas or spaces, specifying the domains to query (in order) on the DNS servers to resolve hostname aliases. The network domain for your system (if specified) is added automatically, so you need not enter it.
DNS Servers
Optionally, specify the IP addresses of up to three Domain Name Servers. We recommend specifying at least one DNS server so that the system can use hostnames for addressing instead of only IP addresses. The DNS servers need not be on the same subnetwork as the system.
Domain
Optionally, specify a network domain for your system. This entry is appended to the hostname to form a fully qualified domain name. Follow the same rules as for the node name fields, but you can specify a dotted hierarchy of subdomain/domain names.
Valid domain names:
Signaling DSCP
Specify a Differentiated Services Code Point value (0 - 63) to put in the DS field of IP packet headers. The DSCP value is used to classify packets for quality of service (QoS) purposes. If you're not sure what value to use, leave the default of 0.
Default IP Gateway
If using split network interfaces, specify which gateway (Management or Signaling) is the default.
Routing Configuration
Click Routing Configuration in the Commands pane to open the Routing Configuration dialog box and add network routing rules. In a split network configuration, routing rules are necessary for proper routing of network traffic.
